Founded in Jacksonville, Florida, Sky Home Builders LLC was built to fill a clear gap: a construction company that combines the scale of a large firm with the accountability of a small, family-operated business. As a certified minority-owned enterprise, we bring a different perspective and deeper community roots to every project.
With one elite crew of five deeply seasoned craftsmen, we offer something most subcontractors can't: focused, undivided expertise on your project without sacrificing quality. Whether you're a general contractor or a homeowner planning your dream kitchen — you get the same precision, transparency, and craft.

Vanderlei Portela
Founder & Owner · Sky Home Builders LLC
With over 30 years of hands-on experience in high-level remodeling and construction — from coast to coast, north to south — Vanderlei Portela has built a career defined by excellence, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to craft.
A proud Brazilian immigrant, Vanderlei fought through the real challenges of building a life and a business in a foreign land. The language barriers, the cultural gaps, the long road to recognition — he faced them all and came out stronger. Along the way, he opened doors for many other Brazilian tradesmen, sharing knowledge, opportunity, and a sense of community in the industry.
Behind every project stands a fighter. A man grounded by family — devoted husband to Edie, a tremendous woman and his greatest partner in life, and proud father of three incredible daughters who inspire everything he builds.
